Care Economy

 

This burgeoning economy includes activities related to providing care, support and services for individuals, families and communities. Professions span across healthcare, social work, childcare, eldercare, mental health support and related services. Roles in the care economy are important to sustain and enhance the well-being and quality of life for individuals and communities and essential for a functioning society.

If you are someone who finds fulfilment in caring for others as a profession, taking up a role in the care economy might be for you. Even if you’re not looking to make a difference in someone else’s life, you can also pick up some skills to better manage challenges and care for people at the workplace.

1. Manage Workplace Challenges with Resilience

This course helps learners understand change and transition and the value of individual and/or organisational resilience to personal growth and organisational sustainability. Learners will gain the knowledge and skills to recognise how to remain resilient and lead themselves through change.

2. (SCTP) Career Transition into Healthcare Sector

This course familiarises aspiring mid-careerists with the Healthcare landscape by increasing their preparedness and resilience levels as they transit into a new vocation. Skills covered include the fundamentals of communication, compassion, teamwork, adaptability and resilience.

3. Diploma (Conversion) in Paramedic Science

This course is for paramedics and is taught using a knowledge-based approach similar to Medical and Nursing education. Learners will learn theories of Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and Pathophysiology so that they are equipped with diagnostic and therapeutic skills within the boundaries of broader clinical guidelines in the future.

4. Certificate in Future Skills in HR

This course caters to HR professionals from any industry wanting to acquire or deepen their HR skills and knowledge in HR technologies, HR analytics, Design Thinking and Positive Psychology. Learners will be able to apply these skills to be more efficient and effective across various HR functions, be more user-centric in dealing with HR issues and use analytics tools and techniques to assess and solve HR business challenges.

5. Specialist Diploma in Career Counselling  

This course aims to equip learners with the essential counselling and coaching competencies in the field of Career Counselling and will enable them to perform the role of a dedicated Career Counselling Practitioner or to incorporate career counselling into their current role.

Green Economy

 

Mention green economy to employers and the first thing that may come to mind is the corporate framework, ESG – short for Environmental, Social and Governance. The ESG measures the sustainability and ethical impact of an investment in a business or company and its requirements are gaining importance to many organisations as investors who are socially responsible, or ‘green conscious’, often screen their investments through this lens.

But the green economy has more to offer beyond ESG. In fact, across diverse industries, this economy impacts many job roles and skills, ranging from fashion and agriculture to urban development and marketing.

1. Sustainability in Fashion  

This course enables learners to gain more relevance and awareness of sustainability issues related to the fashion industry and be equipped with the skills to pursue a career in the sustainable fashion industry. Job roles can include fashion designers, product developers, manufacturers, visual merchandisers, retailers, merchandisers, buyers, merchandise planners, sales and brand owners.

2. Agribusiness Regulatory and Funding

This course will familiarise learners with important enablers of successful businesses, such as government policies, regulations, financing and human resources related to the operations and management of agricultural business in Singapore.

3. Sustainability Marketing

This course is designed to provide learners with a broad background on the principles and scope of marketing concepts used in business for a sustainable and digital world. Learners will be able to use tools to create, communicate and deliver value to customers that build relationships in an online and offline space while understanding the key elements for a sustainability-aligned vision of marketing.

4. Sustainability Reporting Implementation

This course provides an in-depth understanding of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. It covers climate-related risks and opportunities, including physical and transitional aspects and the relevance of climate scenarios in business planning. Learners will acquire the knowledge to prepare and interpret sustainability reports.

5. (SCTP) Driving Sustainability in Green Technology  

This 4-month programme has been designed to support mid-career individuals in attaining industry-relevant skills to pivot to roles in the Built Environment sector. Learners will explore the integration of sustainable practices, cutting-edge technologies and innovative urban planning to create green and smart buildings and cities.

Digital Economy

 

The digital economy hasn’t stopped growing since word processors became a mainstay of everyone’s lives. With AI becoming no longer just a trend but a useful tool at the workplace, more sectors are leveraging on advanced technology to drive innovation and efficiency. As a mid-careerist, you may wish to arm yourselves with new digital skills to stay relevant in your current job role or if you’re transitioning to another.

1. AI Basics & Lifecycle

This course teaches learners skills in AI ethics, biases, security, intellectual properties, basic data science and industry requirements on recommended AI solutions. Learners should be able to apply fundamental programming concepts and computational thinking for basic programs. 

2. (SCTP) Cybersecurity Associate

This course is for learners who wish to acquire skills, knowledge and competencies as a Cybersecurity Associate. You will learn IT fundamentals, network essentials, security essentials, Linux essentials, identity and access management essentials, EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), EC-Council Certified SOC Analyst (CSA) (SF), generate insights, propose solutions and complete a capstone project.

3. (SCTP) i.am-vitalize Full Stack Developer

This course will equip learners with technical skills (HTML with CSS, JavaScript, GitHub, DevOps, CI/CD, Python programming, Databases, SQL, Java, websockets, MQTT) required for a Full Stack Developer role. These include how to develop and deploy applications, practice working with the technologies behind them, understanding the entire software development process from ideation to finished product, and more.

4. (SCTP) Programme in Design Innovation

For mid-careerists, this 3-month programme adopts the design studio method and combines both applied learning and applied research. It aims to train learners with design innovation skills, balancing between user desirability, business viability and technological feasibility.

5. Professional Certificate in Digital Business Strategy

This course aims to verify learner’s knowledge and competency as a digital transformation leader. Skills taught include how to think strategically about digital business and value co-creation with customers and capturing market share, developing digital product strategies and monetising the digital portfolio, creating a customer and marketing strategy for digital business, and more. Suited for senior to top management leaders, business leaders and digital strategists.
