Inclusive training not only empowers individuals with special needs but workplace culture, encouraging diversity, equity and collaboration. To enable every Singaporean to be a vital part of the Singapore economy, SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) has been working with SG Enable and Mental Health Agencies (MHA) such as the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and Singapore Anglican Community Services (SACS), amongst other partners, to support persons with disabilities (PwDs) and individuals with mental health conditions (IMHC) in their learning journey by making their training more accessible, enabling them to be more job ready.
The learning needs of IMHCs and PwDs may require Training Providers to be more considered and innovative when lesson plans are being developed to allow learners to fully benefit from the training. To accommodate their needs, Training Providers may adjust the pace of learning to include more breaks, tweak classroom activities or adopt assistive learning materials or tools so that learning becomes impactful and meaningful.
